About Lori

Hi, my name is Lori, and I have a M.A. in English as a second language. For more than 15 years I have taught and tutored TOEFL and IELTS test prep and English as a second language (ESL) in universities, community colleges, and public schools. I have taught at the University of Southern California, Rutgers University, and Bergen Community College. During that time, I tutored and taught IELTS and TOEFL prepartation classes to students from all over the world. Along with my TESOL certificate, I have tutored in a variety of settings: one-on-one, in small groups of two or three students, and larger groups as well as online. I pride myself in being incrediblely flexible in creating a learning/studying plan that works best with each student's goals. I also know how to pace each tutoring session to ensure students are getting the maximum value for their time. Furthermore, my students have gained admissions to some of the most competive colleges in the country due to my tutoring. Lastly, I have been a TESOL grant reviewer and a Rutgers University grant recipient.

I greatly enjoy guiding my students through the process of preparing and taking standardized tests. As each student's needs are unique, I take pride in getting to know each person as an individual. Since I know how high the stakes are for IELTS and TOEFL, I make sure that my students understand that one aspect of taking a test is to unravel the mystery of it and determine the best plan of attack to get the best possible score. Seeing joyous looks on my students' faces when they have gained admissions to their dream colleges is an honor. Therefore, as their tutor, I do not take my role lightly as I know how much work it takes to attain your goals.
