About Monica

Hello students!

My name is Monica and I'm a pre-med graduate of Florida International University. I have a strong background in health sciences and SAT/ACT prep. I began tutoring early in my teenage years as a volunteer. I now have 5+ cumulative years of experience teaching students of various ages. In my first few years, I worked with elementary and middle-school aged students in various subjects, both privately and in after-school programs. Later, while attending university I taught peer-led groups of university students in subjects such as Human Biology, Anatomy, Physiology, and Genetics. Thereafter, I began tutoring high-school level students in SAT and ACT prep, as well as various science subjects.

I love to share my appreciation for the sciences with my students and make the learning process fun and approachable. My specialties in test prep are Reading Comprehension and Writing. Additionally, I offer coaching services in proofreading and writing development including assignment essays, college application essays, graduate school application essays, resumes, etc.

I can teach students ranging from elementary age to adulthood. I recommend having a short consultation before booking to discuss your academic needs. I'm confident I can help you meet your learning goals and do so with personalized learning strategies, patience, and motivation. I can work with materials you already have, provide my own, or direct you to resources that provide reputable learning materials.

My schedule is relatively flexible; I have availability on both days and evenings and will travel as far as 25 miles. I'm able to travel farther on a case-by-case basis. I offer discounts for booking sessions in bulk or for booking regularly. With the ongoing pandemic, virtual online sessions are encouraged as much as possible to ensure the highest level of safety to students and tutors.
