About Faith

Hello friends!

I am super excited to get to work with you. Biology and the natural sciences have been a passion of mine since childhood. I earned my BS in biology from PLU in 2015. In college I particularly enjoyed classes on ecology, natural history, genetics, and evolutionary theroy. I love expiremental design. As a student in college, I did an internship at Northwest Trek (a zoo in Eatenville WA) where I ran a behavior study on the black bears. After college, I did several internships at wildlife rescues which take in orphaned and injured wildlife, treat they and then release them back into the wild.

I am also comfortable with much younger students and at the elementary level, most subjects. For the last three years, I have been working as a teacher's assistant (paraeducator) in a special education classroom. I used to work with 4-6 graders. I taught a 6th grade math group. This year I was working in the younger class with 1-3 graders. I have experience working with many different special needs students including autism spectrum, attention disorders, Downs Syndrom and more. I've been really missing my kiddos during the COVID shut down.

I hope to get to meet you and do some great work together!

I started volunteering in a special education classroom as part of a class for college. I fell in love with the students and kept volunteering even after the class was over. Eventually, I got a job.

I have a BS in biology from PLU and a minor in history. I am an employee of the Puyallup School District and work in a special education classroom at the elementary level. I have taken many professional development classes through the district on student behaviors.

About the lesson

I want to know a little about you beyond the subject we're working on. What are yuour passions and interests inside and outside of school? What are your straigths? What subjects (or units within subjects) are hard for you or give you some anxiety?

This coversation will depend on the age of the student.

I have mostly worked with elementary age students with special needs with a variety of skill levels. Some our classroom students just needs a little support to meet grade level requirements and other have more significant disabilities. I have also done some home/hospice tutoring with high school students.

I just bought my first house! I have been loving my birdfeeders in my new yard. I get a lot of large woodpeckers, colorful songbirds and hummingbirds.
