About Todd

I am a accredited Teacher with my Masters in Secondary Education and a Bachelors of Arts from Dartmouth College. I have taught high school social studies and english for over 5 years. I have a great deal of experience writing, grading and tutoring essay-writing and enjoy helping others with they're writing.

I enjoy helpig students of any age to succeed. I particularly like the one-on-one format because I can tailor my instruction to the specific individual needs of the student and this results in the largest rewards

I started teaching at a High School in the South Bronx New York in 2006. I attended PACE University and attained my Masters degree in Education in 2009

I am a accredited teacher in New York State and have been teaching for over 5 years. I have my Masters in Education, my BA from Dartmouth College and a School Building Leadership certificate. I have taught Social Studies and English in secondary schools and over tutored for over 10+ years with children of all ages. I enjoy helping students to improve and succeed in the 1 on 1 format

About the lesson

First, I like to get the know the student. What they're interests are, evaluate their level of skill in the subject and ask them what they want to get out of the tutoring? Then I would work with them instructionally. At the end of every tutoring session there is a check for understanding and next steps to continue to imoprove on the skill.

I have worked with primary school, middle school, secondary school and college students. The majority of my in-school work has been with high school students but I have tutored all ages.

I would advise that students work with a teacher that they feel comfortable with. It is important for the student to feel safe making mistakes and asking for the help that they need. The more the student is self-aware of what they want and need the easier the instruction is.

I was tutoring a student in essay writing who was having difficulty organizind ideas and writing them into an essay form. After several tutoring sessions the student is now comfortable writing essay and received and A on her last essay!
