About Ash

I cater to my students. No matter what level a student is, I can adjust the curriculum to meet their needs. I have taught children ages 6-18 for over a decade and have had some continue to persue their interests in the arts through college and professional careers. I have a degree in Multimedia Technology and have taught in schools as well as after school programs.

I enjoy the joy art brings, seeing my students light up when they present their work to others and the pride in the faces of family and friends. I enjoy sharing my love of art with others and making all feel comfortable with what they can do. There is no such think as a bad artist.

My children were a part of LaBelle Performing Arts and I was volunteering with the prop department, making pieces for their production. I joked that I needed to teach others how to do that so I wasn't working alone and we ended up adding a class the next year. After a few years, a friend I knew was promoted to Principal of a private school that needed an enrichment teacher, so i taught art once a week to the entire school. Kindergarten through eighth grade.

I have a degree in Multimedia Technology, and have been a trainer in a few different businesses from fast food to tech support. I have taught art enrichment at a private school with K-8 students. I am the Visual Arts Director at LaBelle Performing Arts and have been teaching Art and Set Design for over a decade.

About the lesson

Depending on the lessons needed, I like to see any work the student has done to gain an idea of where we are starting. I tend to focus on the 7 basic elements of art as a start. From there, I tend to reflect on some well-known and maybe not so well-known artists to show how those elements can be used. From there, it all depends on the student.

I have worked with students ages 6 and up, doing things as simple as coloring pages to illustrating stories and creating stage props and set designs. Some have even moved on to persue careers in the arts and majoring in art in college.

Details

Private lessons are $20 for an hour. Younger students tend to work better in smaller times, so $10 for 30 minute sessions work best for anyone under 10.
