About Diana

A place to learn, relax and create. For Adults and kids of all ages. I have taught art privately and in public school settings for 30 years. I have a Master of Art in Art Education. I have experience in all art mediums, and teach mostly drawing, painting, printmaking, mixed media, watercolor, collage, or even scrapbooking. I also have experience in graphic design, photography, illustration and advertising.

If iyou are nterested in a Girls Night Out type event for 3-6 people, or just some fun art time with friends, please contact me for more information and a quote.

I have been teaching for 30 years now, both in the private and public school setting. I have taught every single age group, and I love what I do!

I enjoy seeing students learn and grow in their skills, and also in the ability to think and create concepts and ideas that they are interested in.

Aside from the many educational benefits of participating in art lesson, I also believe in the therapeutic benifits for the whole person.

I have had a passion for art all of my life. I first took lessons in High School and enjoyed my teacher and what I learned very much. From there it was natural to study art in college and graduate school and to have a career in teaching art.

About the lesson

I want to make the student comfortable first and foremost, and hope to help them to feel at ease in the studio.

If the student has a sketchbook that they work in, I encourage them to bring it to the first lesson so that I can see how they are working and what their interests are in.

I also assess their skill level, and have them share with me if they have had lessons before and how that went for them. I usually ask if they have questions, and what they want to know most about lessons and about me.

All ages from Pre - K through Advanced Placement Art Studio courses that can be taken in High School Settings.

I have worked with special needs and disabled students. My private studio is not handicapped accessable at this moment in time, but some accommodations could be discussed prior to lessons.

I also have taught and worked with adults. One of the things that I hope to do is have some fun and relaxed art opportunities for friends or social groups that want to get together and do art.

I would advise the student or the parent of the student to ask themselves what do they hope to do/accomplish in the lessons? What are they most interested in? And is this particular art teacher a good fit for what I want to do?

I enjoy attending Scottish Festivals. I am of Scottish American heritage and I enjoy these events very much. I also enjoy visiting Scotland as often as possible.

Details

Private lessons are $30 per hour and include supplies. If you desire the lesson to be two hours, then the price is $25 per hour including supplies. I only recommend two hours for High School and Adults. For younger students, one hour is sufficient, especially if taking weekly lessons.

Classes are limited to 5 students. To join a class is $25 per lesson and there is a quarterly supply feel which must be paid up front of $30. This only applies if an age appropriate class is available at the time of the request, and if the student signs up for six weeks or more.

For private events, please message details of what you desire for the event and I can give your a better quote after we talk. My studio is small, so maximum people per event would be 6 students or adults. An event would be like a Girl's Night Out craft, or painting project etc. And it is Bring Your Own Wine and snacks. All art supplies for the project will be included. You can also gather a small group of friends for a fun and therapeutic evening of art.
