About Emily
Emily is an independent artist with over 20 years of experience in oil painting. She holds a Master of Fine Arts from the New York Academy of Art and a Bachelor of Arts in Art History from the College of Charleston. Emily’s paintings are in private collections in New York City, Charleston, South Carolina, and Mexico.
Emily specializes in painting the figure, especially portrait painting but will work with you to achieve your artistic goals.

I’ve found that the most important thing about learning to paint is having confidence. The best teachers I’ve had have empowered me and helped me to embrace the unique qualities of my work. Technique is an important part and can be very helpful but I’m interested in encouraging an intuitive approach. When you are working from your intuition, you stop worrying about right and wrong and you will have the confidence to let paint fly.
