About Natalie

Welcome to tutoring! I am so excited to get started helping you achieve excellence in your classes.

To our tutoring sessions, I bring over 500 hours of experience helping students from 1st through 12th grade with a wide range of subjects. I am happy to work with you on homework, assignments, and studying for tests and quizzes. Whether it be a single session for help organizing a daunting paper, or weekly sessions for a consistent source of help and practice, I am here to meet your academic needs.

In light of Covid-19 concerns, I conduct all of my sessions online through Google Hangouts, Zoom, and Discord.

Services I currently offer include (subject - grade levels):

Biology - K-12th

English - 8-12th

Math - K-8th

Social Studies - K-8th

General Science - K-8th

My first experience teaching was not in the classroom, but in the swimming pool! Teaching swim lessons for three years fostered my philosophy that every person learns differently, and that no matter where you start, you can always get where you want to go with the proper guidance and encouragement.

My tutoring days began at a small tutoring company in California's Bay Area. There, I worked with students of all ages on a range of subjects. From that experience, I bring to my practice a high level of professionalism and preparedness.

I have a Bachelor's in Marine Biology from the University of Oregon.

I also have formal tutoring training and over 500 hours of experience from working for a mid-sized tutoring company in California's Bay Area. I have tutored for AP and IB classes in person and online.

About the lesson

If you would like to set up a session, send me an email and I will respond within 24 hours. Your initial email should contain the the following:

Your name & relation to the client (self, parent, etc.)

The subject that you would like to work on

What kind of tutoring you are looking for (weekly sessions, cram session, etc.)

Your contact information and the method you would prefer for communication (email, phone call, or text)

I have worked with students ranging 1st grade through high school graduation, as well as students in unconventional learning programs such as online and homeschool programs.

My tutoring practice encompasses a range of subject areas, so some general advice I give to students looking for a tutor is to read beyond a tutor's degree qualifications and get a sense for their teaching philosophy. You want a tutor who knows how to maximize your time in session. While it can be tempting to just open your homework assignment and start doing math problems, the best tutors know how to prioritize tasks based on what is the most pressing or challenging so that you can make the best use of your time with your hired expert.

I just got a puppy! Little Zuko is an 11 pound corgi mix, and he loves treats, cuddles, and sleeping on his electric blanket. If you're lucky, his big fuzzy ears may make a guest appearance in our sessions :)

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Think about the class or subject area that you are looking for help in and ask yourself the following questions:

What is the most challenging aspect of the class?

Do the teacher's tests feel like they ask random unexpected questions?

Are you feeling overwhelmed by the size and scope of homework assignments?

Do you need someone to go back over the content that was covered in class with you so that you can ask more questions?

Will you need a session to get organized before fully jumping into content?

Asking these types of questions will help us organize our sessions so that you are going over the material that is most challenging to you. It will also help us determine together whether you think you will want short term or long term tutoring.
