About Anna

I aim to support my students throughout the whole year or educational course. I start by helping the students make SMART goals to ensure they have an expectation on what the hope to acomplish. Then I share study techniques and tutoring sessions to help the students learn the material independently and with my guidance. When I peer mentored college courses the coaching leadership I provide to guide my students resulted in them being the highest scoring students in the class.

My favorite part of the job is when the learning clicks in the student. I hope to train them to be efficient workers in their education and feel confident enough to use the learning techniques on any new subject. I am happiest when they feel confident in their critical thinking that they will no longer need my guidance. I enjoy teaching them learning techniques that will help them with more advanced courses in the future.

My neighbor needed help learning the highschool biology material so during my first year of college I tutored her in the material.

I was a personal tutor during my freshman year of college tutoring highschool biology courses. I also have been a peer mentor for several semesters at Wayne State University aiding in the learning of undergraduate biology courses.

About the lesson

When working with a new student I help them write up SMART goals to help them define what they hope to accomplish. I then ask them what their strengths and weaknesses are when it comes to being an efficient student. Depending on these strengths and weaknesses I work with them to utilize efficient study techniques and coach them in learning challenging material.

Ranges from highschool to higher level college students.
