About Abigail
Hi! I'm a graduate student in Medical Laboratory Science with a bachelor's degree in Animal Science and a minor in Biology. I've always enjoyed science, and one of my favorite things is helping others gain confidence in subjects that can sometimes feel overwhelming. I believe learning should be encouraging, interactive, and even fun, and I love getting to know my students while helping them reach their academic goals.
Outside of school, I'm an animal lover and spend lots of time with my cat, Junebug, and my dog, Pip. When I'm not studying or tutoring, you can usually find me curled up with a good book, working on a crochet project, painting, sewing, or spending time outdoors whenever I get the chance. I enjoy creative hobbies because they remind me that learning and problem-solving come in many different forms. Whether we're working through a challenging biology concept or preparing for an exam, I strive to create a welcoming, supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and building confidence every step of the way.

I believe that the best learning happens when students understand "why" a concept works rather than simply memorizing it. My approach focuses on breaking down complex scientific concepts into manageable pieces using real-world examples, visual aids, diagrams, analogies, and step-by-step explanations that connect new information to concepts students already understand. As a graduate student in Medical Laboratory Science with a background in Animal Science and Biology, I strive to create a supportive and engaging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and developing confidence in their abilities. Whether we're reviewing foundational material or tackling more advanced topics, my goal is to help students build critical thinking and problem-solving skills that will serve them both in the classroom and in their future careers.
- Explain concepts in multiple ways until we find the approach that makes the most sense for you.
- Use real-world scientific and clinical examples to make difficult topics more relatable and memorable.
- Incorporate diagrams, flowcharts, and visual aids to simplify complex biological processes.
- Break large concepts into smaller, manageable steps to reduce overwhelm.
- Focus on understanding concepts rather than memorizing facts.
- Encourage active learning through discussion, practice questions, and problem-solving.
- Help students identify patterns and connections between topics to strengthen long-term retention.
- Adapt each session to the student's learning style, pace, and goals.
- Build confidence by creating a supportive, patient, and judgment-free learning environment.
- Reinforce study strategies, test-taking techniques, and effective note organization alongside course content.
- Emphasize critical thinking and scientific reasoning to prepare students for future coursework and professional programs.
- Provide guidance for biology, microbiology, anatomy and physiology, genetics, animal science, and other life science courses.
