About Jack

My passion for teaching (and learning) has been the driving force in my life, and has taken me all over the world. I first became passionate about teaching when I worked in a remote school in the mountains of Georgia after leaving university, and I have not looked back. I then went on to do a Master's degree in English, spend a year teaching in a university in China, complete a PGCE (postgraduate certificate of education) and then spend several years working in a British comprehensive school.

After gaining some experience in the UK, I took a year off to cycle my bicycle from my home in Wales to the far east of Kazakhstan. Upon returning home, I then took a job working in an ambitious private school in the Middle East (Abu Dhabi), where I worked for 5 years, co-leading the English Department to 'Outstanding'.

I have experience getting students the highest possible grades in their GCSEs and A-Levels, as well as proven success in getting students into leading private schools. I will expect to do extensive work around the lesson - the hourly rate is not just for the hour of lesson, but will include diligent preparation and record keeping.

About the lesson

My experience allows me to adapt my lessons to the needs of my students, no matter what their goals or learning style. I have taught students of all ages, from primary school students looking to pass their common entrance exams, to high school students preparing for GCSEs and A-Levels, to English language learners looking for success in IELTS or university applications.

My lessons are all about progress - achieving success through clear steps, identifying areas of weakness, addressing misconceptions and learning from mistakes. Learning will be consistently checked.

I have 10+ years teaching experience, and am a fully qualified teacher with an additional Master's degree. I have taught in the UK system in an 11-18 comprehensive school, and have also taught all over the world (Middle East, China, Eastern Europe).
