About Malihah

I hold a BA (Hons) in English from Queen Mary University of London, where I achieved a 2:1. I also gained my PGCE in English from UCL’s Institute of Education (IOE), which is ranked first in the world for Education in the 2026 QS World University Rankings by Subject.

Through my teacher training, I gained classroom experience teaching English to students across Key Stages 3 and 4. This developed my ability to plan structured lessons, explain challenging concepts clearly and adapt my teaching to support students with different abilities and learning needs.

I have also been tutoring English since 2021, supporting students with reading comprehension, creative writing, literary analysis, essay writing and examination preparation. In addition, my experience working as a cover teacher in secondary schools has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively, build positive relationships with students and create a focused learning environment.

I understand that English can sometimes feel overwhelming, particularly when students are unsure how to begin an essay, organise their ideas or analyse a quotation in sufficient detail. I therefore break challenging skills into manageable steps and use clear explanations, models, sentence starters and targeted questions to help students become more confident and independent.

My aim is to provide a patient, encouraging and academically focused environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and developing their abilities in English.

About the lesson

I offer supportive and structured English tuition for KS3, GCSE and A-level students, both online and in person in East London. My lessons are tailored to each student’s ability, areas for improvement and upcoming assessments.

For KS3 students, I can support them with:

• Reading comprehension and inference
• Analysing language, structure and characters
• Creative and descriptive writing
• Developing clear analytical paragraphs
• Grammar, punctuation and vocabulary
• Preparing for school assessments and building strong foundations for GCSE

For GCSE students, lessons can focus on:

• English Language and English Literature
• Understanding exam questions and assessment objectives
• Essay planning and timed responses
• Analysing quotations in detail
• Improving argument, structure and written expression
• Revising key texts, themes, characters and quotations
• Practising past-paper questions and exam technique

For A-level students, I can provide support with:

Close textual analysis
• Planning and structuring academic essays
• Developing clear and convincing arguments
• Incorporating context and critical interpretations
• Comparing literary texts
• Improving written expression and proofreading coursework

Each lesson will begin with a clear objective and include explanation, modelling, guided practice and independent application. I will provide constructive feedback and adapt the level of support as the student becomes more confident.

I’ve known Malihah for a while now as a fellow tutor, and I have huge respect for her as an educator. What stands out most about her teaching is how patient she is. She takes the time to explain things clearly and never rushes a student through a concept until they truly understand it. She has a real gift for breaking down tricky topics into something manageable and approachable. I’d wholeheartedly recommend Malihah to anyone looking for a tutor who is dedicated, reliable, and genuinely invested in helping students succeed.

I found Malihah when my child was feeling anxious and unmotivated about their upcoming GCSE English exams. She immediately created a supportive, welcoming environment where my child felt comfortable asking questions and making mistakes without judgement.

As a Superprof, Malihah is empathetic, highly knowledgeable, and fantastic at adapting her teaching methods to suit her student's individual learning style. A memorable turning point for me was when she helped my child prepare a persuasive speech for their English Spoken Language endorsement. Her constructive feedback and encouragement helped my child deliver it with total confidence and achieve a top mark.

Her positive attitude and structured guidance turned English from a dreaded subject into one my child genuinely enjoyed. I wholeheartedly recommend Malihah to anyone looking to boost both confidence and grades.

We have previously worked together as tutors. She was the most dedicated tutor I have ever worked with. She valued the education and progress of all her students and put in active effort to ensure that all her students improved while being tutored by her. She was also very kind and understanding, helping struggling young people learn at their own pace. She is an amazing tutor and I would like to recommend her.

My children currently in secondary school started English tutoring with Malihah earlier this year, and their confidence has grown so much. She made lessons engaging, explained everything clearly, and really helped them feel prepared for their end of year exams. I would definitely recommend her to anyone looking for a supportive and knowledgeable English tutor.
