About Ben

Having grown up with dyslexia and dyspraxia, I know what it's like to struggle at school, to want to blurt out the right answer straight away. So while I'm not much use for Maths and Science, I can help with English. I teach because I want to help others find their way into literature and understand that the essay questions are ultimately there to be enjoyed.

About the lesson

Each student is different, but my approach is to help the student converse with the texts. To make it active. To enliven their interest and get them to think for themselves, rather than parroting what they think they say. I am patient and understanding, I try to make sure the student knows they are safe to make mistakes without judgement. I'm here to help, not scold. I also utilise my knowledge of storytelling to help with persuasive essay writing and with breaking down the texts to their foundations.
