About Jacob
I started tutoring last year, helping foreign students practice their English, improve their essay-writing skills, and hone the abilities they need to complete their studies - from A-level, to helping a non-English speaker pass her PhD in biology with flying colours. Skills in English are useful to all sorts of subjects!

I teach A-level students through to postgraduates, both native speakers and learners. Everyone needs something different, and each student has their own personal style which should be preserved; I engage them in conversation to make dry topics more engaging, read over their writing with them, and share my own experiences in getting into Oxford (and dealing with the work!). There are always hoops to jump through, but it's important to bring something unique and distinctive to all written work and make yourself stand out from the crowd; I try to encourage that kind of difference.
