About Shannon
I am 24 years old and attended the University of Hull, studying English Language and Creative Writing. I am currently a teaching assistant in North London. I have always had a passion for English Language and English Literature and feel immense pride and joy when sharing this passion with students of all ages and witnessing them not only enjoy the subject, but excel in it. Outside of my English studies, I am a keen Netball player, most recently playing for the University of Hull, competing against various other universities.

I have been privileged to have the opportunity to teach children of various ages and witness their knowledge and passion of the English language grow. For a year, I volunteered at a local Primary School and worked in a class of year 2 students, all with differing English abilities. With numerous and creative exercises, which helped nurture the children's skills in reading, writing, and spelling, every student passed their key stage 1 English tests, which brought me immense pride. I am also proud to say that I was accepted to volunteer in the Reader Leader scheme for 3 years. This involved individually meeting with children in years 7 and 8 twice a week whose reading level was below the national average. We would spend an hour with a book, chosen by either myself or the child, and read and discuss the story. I thoroughly enjoyed this opportunity and successfully helped all my students achieve an above average or average reading ability.
