About Olly
My name is Olly and I want to help hardworking students reach their full potential in maths and physics and to enjoy getting there!
I graduated from the University of Bristol in 2017 with a First-class MEng in Aerospace Engineering. Since then I have worked at a world-leading British industrial engineering company as an engineer in civil aerospace and civil nuclear businesses. I am currently in flight training to become a commercial airline pilot.
I studied Maths, Physics and and Geography at A-Level and achieved A*, A and A* respectively, my maths units covered C1, C2, C3, C4, S1 and M1. At GCSE I achieved 11 A* and 1 A, including A* in Maths, Physics and iGCSE Maths.
During my A-Levels I was a volunteer tutor for maths and science to KS3. Whilst at University I was part of a volunteer community project teaching robotics to KS2. Furthermore, whilst working I was an active member of STEM UK running engineering-based workshops in schools. So I have lots of experience and enthusiasm for teaching school students.

First of all, it is key for me to get to know what you are aiming to achieve through our time together. Are you trying to get a Grade 4 to a Grade 6, master a particular topic you find tricky, understand how to answer those tricky Grade 9/A* questions or simply just a bit of extra help. I am happy to help, whatever your goal is, but it is an important matter to discuss before getting stuck-in. Knowledge of your exam board syllabus is helpful too.
Getting into specifics, it is helpful to know what you are happy with and what you are unhappy with. So a quick discussion about specific ideas and specific questions will help us know where to start. To do this, I like to go through questions together and identify the tricky areas and gaps in understanding.
Once we know the areas to focus on, we can go back to look at the basic principles together before returning to worked examples where we can gradually build-up the level of difficulty, and more importantly your confidence, to the point where you can do them on your own!
I am happy to regularly review how we plan our sessions and your feedback is always welcome.
