About Ashika

I’m a certified special education teacher with extensive experience supporting learners of all ages in literacy and reading development. I specialize in working with students who have diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities and English language learners (EAL). My approach is patient, personalized, and culturally responsive. I use structured literacy techniques, including decodable texts for younger learners, and scaffolded strategies for older students to build confidence and fluency. What truly sets me apart is my multilingual background—I speak several languages, which allows me to understand how students think, write, and translate from their native language into English. This helps me guide them in expressing their ideas clearly and effectively. Whether you're just beginning to read or looking to strengthen your literacy skills, I offer lessons tailored to your level, needs, and goals. My sessions are warm, supportive, and focused on helping you succeed.

About the lesson

As a certified special education teacher specializing in literacy and EAL (English as an Additional Language), I offer personalized, patient, and culturally responsive instruction tailored to each learner’s unique needs. My teaching methodology blends structured literacy techniques with a deep understanding of language acquisition, making reading accessible and meaningful for all ages and abilities.
A typical lesson begins with a warm-up activity to build rapport and assess readiness, followed by targeted instruction using decodable texts, visual aids, and interactive strategies. I focus on phonemic awareness, vocabulary development, comprehension, and writing skills, adapting each session to the student’s pace and goals.
What sets me apart is my multilingual background, which allows me to understand how students think and translate from their native languages into English. This insight helps me guide learners in expressing themselves clearly and confidently, bridging language gaps with empathy and precision.
My lessons are designed for learners of all ages—from young children just beginning to decode words, to older students and adults seeking to strengthen foundational literacy skills or improve English fluency. Whether you're a newcomer to Canada, a student with learning differences, or someone needing extra support, I’m here to help you thrive
