About Jonathan
I have been teaching IB Economics, AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics for over 4 years, helping students achieve strong academic results through engaging, real-world examples. Based in Asia, I bring a global perspective shaped by my travels to over 60 countries in the past two decades. Away from teaching, I enjoy hiking, football, frisbee, tennis, and badminton. I am an avid fan of Fulham Football Club and an aspiring music producer.

I teach IB Economics, AP Microeconomics, and AP Macroeconomics. I started my career in banking, working at UBS and Citigroup, where I provided investment advice to high-net-worth individuals. I also have experience as an entrepreneur, having established a men’s watch brand and co-founded a mobile app that helps frequent travellers establish their tax domicile. I studied Geography at Loughborough University in the UK. I am a UK-qualified teacher with a PGCE (Postgraduate Certificate in Education) from the University of Sunderland. I hold several finance qualifications and was licensed to provide investment advice by the FCA in London and the SFC in Hong Kong. I draw on my experience in financial services and my own entrepreneurial journey to apply economic theory from the classroom to real-world examples found in the news. This approach brings Economics to life, making it relevant to everyday situations and helping students remember content as they prepare for their exams. I use content from IB Economics textbooks (Oxford and Hodder) and AP Central, alongside custom materials I have developed, ensuring a comprehensive and tailored learning experience for each student. The typical length of a lesson is one hour, although I have taught 30-minute and three-hour lessons in the past. These lessons are for those studying IB Economics, AP Microeconomics and AP Macroeconomics. My students range from beginners just starting the course, to those preparing for their final exams, as well as individuals seeking assistance with their Internal Assessments.
