About Bente

I am a native speaker. After getting my pre-university education degree I studied psychology for a while at the University of Amsterdam. I have two years of experience teaching foreign students, migrants and children of expats. You don’t need any experience with the Dutch language to start with the lessons.

About the lesson

I adjust my lessons to your personal needs. The frequency of the lessons depends on your preferences. For example, if you want to make progress quickly, we could plan two or three lessons a week.
In the first lesson we look at your goals. What you would like to learn? What is your main focus?
I divide my lessons into different parts, so we can cover all skills. For example, first we discuss a written homework assignment, then you read a piece from a book to practice pronunciation and then we discuss the text, to increase your reading comprehension (understanding of the text).
I work both with and without homework assignments, depending on your preferences. Usually I check the homework assignments before class, so no time is lost during class.

It is very nice and easy to correspond with Peter who was searching for a Dutch teacher for his son Tony. Tony is a dedicated student and teaching him is a great experience. Tony works really hard during the lessons and he quickly gets the hang of the new teaching material. Although he sometimes is a bit insecure of his abilities, for someone who just got in touch with the Dutch language, he is making an amazing progress.
