About Alexis
Hi, my name is Alexis and I am currently a month out from finishing my degree in Elementary Education. I’ve worked as an aide since 2021, and I’ve been involved with children in various teaching and caregiving roles since I was 13. Over the years, I’ve developed a strong passion and skillset for early literacy, with a special focus on reading and phonics instruction. I absolutely love learning new things and bringing that curiosity into the classroom. Teaching is more than a job to me—it’s a joy. There’s nothing more rewarding than watching a student’s face light up when a concept finally clicks. That moment of understanding is why I do what I do.

Theme: Letter M and the /m/sound Ages: kindergarten-1st grade Skill focus: - Recognize letter A - Say and identify the /a/ sound - Blend simple CVC words with /a/ Warmup: - Sing a song while I shake letters in a cup/ Ask child to echo the sound with me. Song: " Let's get ready, let's have fun, what's the sound? Let's shout one!" * after pulling the letter* Now listen close: A says a as in apple * child echoes* Letter writing: * child will need paper and pencil* - I will write my letter A on my board - the student will copy me and then will color and trace their work Word builder fun: I will have them look around the room to see if there is anything around them with the letter A. After this I will place letters on my screen and have the students tell me letters that can make up an A word. letters will make up the words: at, as, and, add Read aloud: to finish out our time I will read a book out loud to the students and discuss the book. End: I will summarize what we learned and wish them a good day or a good night!
