About Jessica
My name is Jess and I am an English teacher teaching in South East England. I work at a local secondary school teaching English and Drama!
What I love about English is that it can take you down so many pathways.
- It teaches you how to think in depth about why writers choose to use particular language.
- It improves your oracy skills.
- It helps you learn to write correctly- skills you will need beyond education!
- It enables you to create a wider vocabulary for yourself.
- It opens your doors to many career opportunities in the future.
I studied English A level as well as Drama and Performing Arts at college. This is when my passion for wanting to help young people first evolved . At university, I was awarded a 2:1 in English Literature and Creative Writing. I loved the creative writing side, it enabled me to voice issues that I was experiencing in my life through writing in a creative way.
I completed my university career with a PGCE in Secondary English and I now teach English and Drama to students between the ages of 11 and 16 at school.
My job is one of the most rewarding jobs! The feeling you get when a pupil understands what you have taught them, or when they do really well in an assessment is incredible!

I am a Teacher of English in a local secondary school that is determined to support as many students as possible throughout my teaching career. I am looking to tutor young people who struggle with their English to help them improve their grades as they approach GCSE exams.
English does not come naturally to everyone (we certainly can’t be good at everything!). However I am offering to support you in improving skills which help towards your GCSE's. I can help with both English Literature and English Language.
A typical lesson will consist of:
- A starter task based on knowledge from previous lessons.
- A main task that can be scaffolded based on the individual. We will go at your pace to ensure that you are supported when you are struggling and challenged when you are thriving!
- Knowledge check tasks to ensure you have picked up what we have learnt that day.
Lessons will all be tailored for you and your abilities. With a clear vision of what you would like to gain from your tutoring sessions, I can get right to work with creating content to help you achieve your goals.
English may not be everyone's cup of tea, but the right ingredients can change your entire perspective on a subject that is so broad.
