About Tiffany
Hi there! My name is Tiffany. I am a recent university graduate based in Toronto. I studied Biomedical sciences as my major, as well as psychology as my minor. I graduated university with a 95+ average. I have also studied extensively for the Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) which has given me additional exposure to the maths and sciences, as well as psychology and sociology.
While I definitely pride myself on my academic success, I also love to read and practice Muay Thai and mixed martial arts in general! I am also an avid music listener and Netflix watcher on my down time. I strongly believe that having a balanced lifestyle helps with academic success. After all, it can be pretty difficult to stay motivated to be a straight A student when you're over worked and over stressed all of the time! I suppose thats where I come in :) Having a tutor and someone to guide you along your academic journey can be the difference between struggling through classes and genuinely enjoying and gaining a passion for the knowledge that you're presented with.

I am a recent university graduate with a Biomedical Science Honours degree as well as a minor in psychology. I maintained straight A's throughout university and am confident in my ability to communicate and teach new and/or difficult information to students.
I believe that a that a tailored approach is most appropriate depending on the needs and strengths/weaknesses of a student.
A hands on approach to teaching tends to be most effective for visual learners who need extensive visual exposure and repetition. This involves helping students to create cue cards and/or flow diagrams.
Students who prefer a more traditional approach to learning may fare better using summary pages and by integrating information with pre-existing knowledge to form mental schemas.
Lesson plans are created depending on the needs of each student. If the goal is to do an overall review of a subject, then we will cover each section topic by topic, identifying the students strengths and weaknesses which will allow me to tailor the plan to focus more attention on problem areas.
If the purpose of the tutoring session is to tackle specific areas of struggle for the student, then detailed explanation and working through sample problems together before having the student attempt problems on their own and taking them up together tends to be effective.
Overall, I believe that my many years of education and tackling different study methods and working with other students has equipped me to be an effective tutor.
