About Yasmeen

I am a Biology teacher and tutor of many years drawing upon my excellent educational background and personal affinity for studying the natural world to distill complex subjects for students. I have taught students both in person and online and inspired confidence and boosted engagement in most. I rely not only on my experience and schooling, but my personal passion for science. This means that everything I share with students is genuinely interesting to me and something I have researched extensively. I share things from a unique perspective and as such help students make unique connections. While working as a Biology teacher, I introduced weekly lab lessons into each grade level I was teaching. In these lab sessions we focused on scientific topics of interest and critical methods each week, developing a portfolio of core skills and projects together. I love to learn, I love to teach, and I love to grow alongside students. I am a patient and attentive teacher, and I believe in making things interesting and meeting an individual where they are at. My personalized teaching style first assesses your needs and then adapts to meet them. I hope you will go on this journey with me!

About the lesson

I use a dynamic and engaging approach to draw students in, making classes memorable and interesting. I focus on two key elements 1. intrigue and exploring potential and 2. building proficiency and detail retention. I believe in learning through understanding and finding ways to make the subject matter relevant. I am very passionate about what I do and life science subjects and bring my experience and personally crafted material to lessons. I teach ages 9 - 18 with a special focus on the 6th and 7th grade curriculum. I can also help prepare students for SAT exams. My focus is Biology but I cover all life science subjects. With me you will: -Learn how to make connections between different subjects -Learn how to use critical thinking -Learn how to apply core scientific thought and methods to everyday life -Be exposed to relevant extracurricular material and skills -Learn how to become a self-sufficient learner with an interest in the subject you are learning -Become stronger in the subject and see improved proficiency and engagement
