About Veronica

I became a teacher because I believe every single student deserves an advocate. In a vast education system, it is far too easy for a young person or an adult learner to feel like just another number on a spreadsheet. Throughout my 20-year career—as a Head of Department, an AQA Examiner, and a Local Authority EHCP Coordinator—my core mission has never changed: to see the individual, protect their potential, and champion their progress. True learning cannot happen without trust. I strive to create an exceptionally safe, low-stress space where students feel secure enough to make mistakes, ask questions, and take intellectual risks. Many learners come to tuition carrying exam anxiety, a fear of failure, or the weight of unmet SEND needs from large classroom environments. I specialise in breaking down those barriers. By building genuine rapport and celebrating every breakthrough, I rebuild their confidence from the ground up. Teaching, for me, is about empowerment. Whether I am guiding a student through the complexities of a GCSE AQA mark scheme or helping an adult learner unlock functional literacy, I am there to level the playing field. I teach because watching a student transform from anxious and overwhelmed to confident and capable is the most rewarding work in the world. With the right advocate, every student can fly.

With over 20 years of classroom and leadership experience, I provide elite-level English tuition tailored to exactly how exam boards award marks and how diverse minds learn. As a current college lecturer, former Head of English, and an active AQA Examiner, I don't just teach the subject—I know exactly what the examiners are looking for to secure top grades. My background spans the entire educational spectrum, from mainstream secondary schools to highly specialised support. Having served as a Local Authority EHCP Coordinator and worked within Compass Inclusion, I possess deep expertise in supporting neurodivergent learners, students with SEND, and those requiring alternative provision. Whether your child needs to push for a Grade 9 at GCSE/A-Level, build confidence with Functional Skills, or overcome severe learning barriers, I adapt my approach to unlock their full potential. The approach I can offer is a highly structured, 1-to-1 targeted support designed to fit around busy schedules. Because of my unique blend of examiner insight and inclusion expertise, my lessons focus on breaking down complex exam criteria into clear, manageable steps. I specialise in calming exam anxiety, boosting literacy, and helping KS3, GCSE, A-Level, and adult learners rapidly improve their grades. I offer 60-minute sessions.
