About Ivy
I am a piano tutor with a Bachelor of Music in Music Education (Piano) and over 9 years of teaching experience. I combine formal academic training with practical experience across jazz, pop, and classical genres. This allows me to tailor lessons to each student’s interests and goals. I work with both school-aged students and adults, helping them build technique, confidence, and a love for playing. My lessons focus on developing strong fundamentals while keeping music engaging and enjoyable. I use a mix of exercises, repertoire, and creative activities to make learning fun. I enjoy helping students prepare for performances, exams, or simply personal growth through music. Whether you are a beginner or advancing to more complex pieces, I guide you step by step. My goal is to nurture both skill and passion, so students feel motivated every session. Music is meant to be expressive and enjoyable, and I aim to make every lesson inspiring. Together, we explore new pieces, master techniques, and celebrate progress along the way.

My teaching approach focuses on helping students of all ages develop strong technique, consistent practice habits, and a genuine love for playing the piano. I tailor lessons to each student’s goals, whether they are exploring classical pieces, jazz improvisation, or popular music. I use a mix of music games, backing tracks, and interactive exercises to keep lessons engaging and motivating. Students learn to read music, build finger strength, and understand rhythm while having fun. I emphasise steady, manageable practice routines that help skills grow over time. Lessons are student-centred, allowing each learner to progress at their own pace. I guide them in overcoming challenges and celebrate every small achievement along the way. My approach supports both casual learners and those aiming for performance or exam readiness. Improvisation, expression, and creativity are encouraged, helping students play with confidence and style. I help learners gain technical precision while keeping music enjoyable and inspiring. The focus is always on growth, motivation, and building a lifelong connection with the piano.
