About Shaan

From my eight years of experience as a peer tutor, I am devoted to delivering education in the most accessible ways. More importantly, as a fellow student, I understand that some concepts can be harder than others for different people. I will cater to your strengths and build on these intellectual foundations to help you learn new concepts.

I'm a third-year medical student at Johns Hopkins and a Yale University graduate (majored in Neuroscience). My education has been a central piece to the pursuit of my dreams in healthcare. I would absolutely love to help inspire you to similarly achieve your aspirations through your education.

I've been an award-winning competitive math enthusiast and computational biology researcher, while also excelling in my curricular studies. I've received a perfect AMC 8 score (25/25), perfect ACT math composite score (and a perfect 36/36 ACT score overall as well), perfect SAT & PSAT math composite score (SAT: 1580/1600), and a perfect SAT II Math score (800). I've been a tutor in math actually for the longest; I was an avid peer tutor when I took Algebra 1 in 4th grade. I can also inspire my students while also relating to their struggles as a current student myself.

About the lesson

As a Yale University award-winning pre-med and current medical student at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, I bring both academic excellence and a professional, supportive teaching style to every session. I believe there is no such thing as a “good” or “bad” student — improvement comes from deliberate practice, effective study strategies, and building confidence over time. One of the biggest barriers in education is not intelligence, but learning how to learn efficiently. As a near-peer mentor who is still actively studying at a high level, I understand the challenges students face and can provide practical, proven strategies that are realistic and effective. My goal is not only to help students master material, but also to help them become more independent, confident learners long-term.
