About Alexandra Akemi
Alexandra Gonzales Siu is a violinist and educator known for her thoughtful artistry and innovative approach to teaching. Born in New York and raised between the United States and Peru, she began her musical studies at a young age and trained at the National University of Music in Lima before continuing her education in the United States. She later attended the Interlochen Arts Academy on full scholarship and is currently pursuing advanced studies at The Juilliard School, where she continues to refine her craft as both a performer and pedagogue.
An active performer, Alexandra has participated in orchestral, chamber, and contemporary music projects, including appearances in collaborative performances at Juilliard and fellowships such as the Music Academy of the West. Her musical background is rooted in a strong technical foundation, shaped by the Galamian tradition, while her artistic voice reflects a commitment to individuality, creativity, and expressive freedom.
As a teacher, Alexandra is deeply passionate about creating a supportive and engaging learning environment for students of all ages and levels. She views teaching as an art form and emphasizes curiosity, discipline, and authentic self-expression in her studio. Her approach encourages students to develop not only technical proficiency, but also confidence, creativity, and a meaningful personal connection to music. Through both her performing and teaching, Alexandra strives to cultivate a dynamic and evolving artistic practice that connects tradition with new perspectives.
