About Ethan
I’m a passionate and patient tutor who truly enjoys helping students understand and appreciate math. I’ve worked with a wide range of learners, each with different strengths and learning styles, which has taught me how to adapt my approach to best support each individual. Whether it’s Algebra, Precalculus, or Calculus, I focus on making complex concepts clear and approachable. My goal is to build not only skills, but also confidence. I’m committed to creating a supportive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making progress at their own pace.

My teaching methods are heavily based on the attitudes and habits of the students. I listen, observe, and take notes on what each individual student enjoys, and what works best for them. During my two years of being a peer and private tutor, I have observed many different students. Perhaps a student enjoys more independent work, or maybe they like to see how I work through it, maybe they're better off in groups? I've seen it all. Throughout my lessons I try to focus on lots of practice problems to help ameliorate students intuition and problem solving abilities. I used to be very bad at math; I was one of those students who stayed after for office hours and seemed to get more confused, or the student who asked his/her dad for help, only to come out crying, and more confused. In all seriousness, I empathize with all students, but especially those who feel they weren't "born with math" or they weren't "gifted" enough. I'll make sure everyone feels respected and heard. My lessons are typically for high school / college students, but can be tailored for more or less experienced students.
