About Tawana
Playing violin requires a specific balance between physical discipline and musical intuition that I have refined over 13 years. I often find that students arrive with tension that limits their agility, so we address posture and hold before anything else.
My work with 280 students has taught me exactly where to look for technical inefficiencies. Classical repertoire serves as our primary vehicle for mastering sight reading, double stops, and shifting positions.

Starting the initial session involves assessing your bow arm to immediately gauge where we need to adjust your physical approach. Drawing on my MMus background, I break down complex orchestral passages into manageable components. This technical rigor ensures you understand the underlying mechanics of every piece you perform. We utilize specific drills to enhance your control during double stops and shifting.
My method relies on detail oriented correction of your left hand agility. You will find that these precise adjustments make a significant difference. I enjoy seeing the moment a student finally masters a difficult intonation pattern. It is genuinely rewarding to watch you synthesize these concepts into a cohesive performance.
