About James

Hello! I am a student violinist and music theory tutor. I study at the Sarajevo Music Academy and even though I am still a student I have a strong passion for teaching. I have been in love with music my whole life and I am happy I can transfer that love to my students. I have been playing violin for over 13 years, and during my journey I have performed with professional orchestras, opera ensembles with the National Theatre (NPS) and international youth projects such as CEMAN orchestra. Book a lesson with me and let me help you with achieving your violin goals!

About the lesson

As a student myself, I know firsthand what it’s like to learn violin step by step, and I believe that gives me a unique perspective as a teacher. I understand the struggles when learning how to play violin, from practicing effectively to building confidence, and I enjoy sharing the methods that have helped me improve! My lessons are completely focused on the student, meaning you can choose the direction of your learning. We can dive into serious classical repertoire for school exams and auditions, or simply play pieces and songs you’ve always wanted to learn for fun. Lessons can cover anything from building strong fundamentals with scales, etudes and technique exercises to polishing advanced repertoire, exploring new styles of music and learning new pieces. I also guide students through music theory, ear training and the psychological aspect of playing while on stage, so they grow as complete musicians. I believe music should be both structured and enjoyable. I tailor my lessons to the needs of the student because I believe there is more than one approach to learning a specific thing while playing and we need to find the best solution for each student while enjoying the process. My goal is to help every student advance while keeping the love of music alive, while also showing them how to practice smarter and more effectively whether you want to play in an orchestra, pass a school exam or just enjoy playing your favorite piece at home. I work with beginners, intermediate students, advanced learners and hobbyists of all ages who simply want to play music and I want to help them reach their goals and full potential while enjoying the art of music.

Perfect! James is patient and kind while keeping me on track to lean posture, technique, sightreading, etc. I'm so glad to start my violin journey right, so many bad habits I would have needed to correct otherwise. Money well spent. Thank you James
