About Trevor

I am a passionate educator with over two decades of experience helping students tackle tough material in a way that is accessible, entertaining, and effective. I believe in education that is engaging and relevant, with material that is tailored to my students’ personal interests.

I have been a private tutor since 2001. I've helped youth and adults learn English as a Second Language, with results that literally speak for themselves. I’ve helped students struggling with standardized tests find their way to dramatic increases in their scores. As an arts advocate, I also founded arts education programs that taught civic leadership through theatre, poetry, and film production. The subjects I’ve taught have been diverse, but the common thread is the enthusiasm, confidence, and competence that my students gain from our work together.

About the lesson

Where do you fit into the material you're learning? Why do you want to learn this? Can you see yourself doing an amazing job with this? Making sure that we're clear on these questions is one of the reasons my students have a completely different experience with me than any other tutor they've had in the past.

My typical lesson plan starts by going over the context for what we're going to learn, why we're learning it, and how you might use it in your life. Then we'll dive into text that is relevant to you, reviewing any difficulties you've had with the material and clearing up any confusions you may have had. From there, we'll get creative with it in some way. Depending on what we're doing, this could involve creative writing, improvisation or talking through scenarios that are relevant to what we're studying.

I can offer lessons to students of all ages and experience levels, from beginner ESL students to college level Shakespeare studies or comparative literature courses. Reach out to get the dynamic support you deserve!
