About Regina

Why choose me?

Hi, I’m Regina and I am a Native English Speaker currently residing in Canada. I speak two languages fluently and currently learning French myself as my third language. (I have lots of practice in terms of learning new languages and understanding what may work better in certain situations/learning styles).
I have a bachelors degree from the University of Toronto and have my full insurance broker’s license in multiple provinces. I have lots of experience in editing both university and college level work of those whose second language is English. I also have experience with helping and teaching English through everyday talk in my own personal life with family members (I travel to Europe to visit family and help them as well when doing so).

I am currently teaching myself French through various methods. I took French classes all throughout high school and have not studied it since 2011, until starting up with it again in 2023. I am excellent in teaching others and myself as I have had my own experiences learning English as a second language as a young child. I have also taught myself how to read and write in Hungarian at the age of seven, as I had only known how to speak the language at the time when relocating to Canada.

In my free time, I enjoy playing tennis and badminton, taking trips with my family and reading romance/thriller novels.

About the lesson

I offer friendly, relaxed conversation practice (no boring textbooks or stressful grammar drills)! I am a fan of learning/practicing a language in the way it was meant to be learned- through everyday topics and conversations, various media outlets and lots of engagement.

We can chat about travel, food, hobbies, work, or anything you enjoy. My lessons are designed to help you and we can go at a pace that you are comfortable with.

Through listening and speaking with me, you will be able to pick up English in a natural way, learn "lingo" and phrasing that are used daily, learn new words and phrases in context and get gentle corrections and encouragement.

In addition to our fun conversation lessons, I'll recommend easy-to-understand books, short stories and movies/TV shows that match your level. This way, you can keep practicing English in your free time and learn naturally, just like we all learned to speak our first language! I highly encourage this way of learning as it helps to embed the language into muscle memory in the most effective way.

Learning new languages are so important- the more you know, the more your mind grows and stays fresh! The ability to speak multiple languages are especially handy when travelling and an asset for various jobs.
