About Denise

I am a qualified Computer Science professional and Education Specialist with over 30 years’ experience across industry and higher education. I hold a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science and a PGCE (QTS), alongside many other certifications including ITIL, and BCS AI Ethics certifications. My career spans roles from Infrastructure Team Lead to MSc Skills Coach and Technical Trainer.

I have spent the last few years working exclusively as an MSc Digital Technology Skills Coach at QA Ltd, where I mentored 70+ learners through pathways in Software Engineering, Data Analytics, and Cyber Security, Dev Ops & Enterprise Architecture. I specialise in supporting Degree Apprentices through the End Point Assessment (EPA) process, helping them build high-standard digital portfolios. As a former Computing Lecturer, I also have extensive experience delivering BTEC Levels 2–5 and HND Computing with a consistent 100% success rate.

My corporate background includes not only 15 years working in infrastructure but Projects which include leading the training element of global rollouts for Microsoft Dynamics 365 and legal CRM systems, so I have the valuable industry experience.

I have delivered to and coached age 16 + so age is no limit. I am calm and adapt my methods and approaches to each individual learner. As a qualified Coach I understand the importance of inclusive practice and am particularly skilled at working with mature learners who are new or have taken long breaks from education.

About the lesson

My lessons are tailored to each learner's goals, experience, and preferred learning style. I am a qualified Computer Science professional and educator with a BSc (Hons) in Computer Science, a PGCE with Qualified Teacher Status (QTS), and professional certifications including ITIL and BCS AI Ethics. With over 30 years of experience across industry, further education, higher education, and professional training, I bring both academic knowledge and real-world expertise to every lesson.

I specialise in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Analytics, Cyber Security, DevOps, Degree Apprenticeships, portfolio development, and End Point Assessment (EPA) preparation. Having supported over 70 MSc and Degree Apprentices, I understand the challenges learners face and how to help them achieve successful outcomes.

My teaching approach combines coaching, practical exercises, discussion, and real-world examples to develop both technical knowledge and confidence. Lessons are interactive and focused on helping learners understand concepts rather than simply memorising information.

A typical lesson lasts 60 minutes, although longer sessions can be arranged for assignment support, project work, portfolio reviews, dissertation guidance, or EPA preparation. I provide clear feedback, study strategies, and personalised support to help learners progress towards their goals.

I teach learners aged 16+ including college students, university students, Degree Apprentices, career changers, and professionals seeking certifications or career development. My approach is patient, supportive, and inclusive, and I am particularly experienced in helping mature learners and those returning to education after a break.
