About Malaak

Hi! I’m Malaak, an English Literature and Creative Writing student at the University of Westminster with a passion for language, storytelling, and a love for helping others learn. I've always loved exploring books, writing creatively, and breaking down and analysing complex ideas from poems, texts and essays - and that's what I aim to do in my lessons. I started tutoring by helping all of my siblings, friends and family, and I quickly realised how much I enjoy supporting others on their learning journey. Since then, I’ve worked as a teaching assistant and am currently tutoring the children of friends and family aged 5 to 17 at home. These experiences have taught me how to be patient, approachable, and flexible with different learning styles. I understand that English can sometimes feel overwhelming and like there's too much to take in whether it's analysing literature or writing creatively under time pressure or hitting a writing slump. With the right support, however, it can become one of your strongest subjects and perhaps something you'll come to enjoy. I’m here to help you build confidence, improve your skills, and reach your goals at a pace that works for you.

About the lesson

My tutoring style is friendly, adaptable, and student-focused. I aim to create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable asking questions when struggling and developing their skills at their own pace. I tailor each lesson to suit the individual learner — whether that means breaking down complex texts, encouraging creative writing, or helping students structure their essays. I typically teach one and a half hour lessons online via Zoom or Google Meet, but I can adjust the length depending on age or need. I'm currently studying English Literature and Creative Writing at the University of Westminster and have experience as a Year 2 teaching assistant, a home tutor for children aged 5 to 17, and a volunteer at an after-school club. These roles have helped me build strong communication, patience, and planning skills across a range of age groups and abilities. I offer online tutoring for GCSE and A-Level students, as well as younger secondary learners who want to build confidence in English Literature, essay writing, and creative expression. Whether you're preparing for exams or looking to improve your writing, I’m here to help.
