About Karan

My name is Karan. While learning medicine over the last 5 years, I’ve discovered some insider tricks, reserved for those studying at Trinity College in Cambridge. I’ve always loved to teach - it helps others for sure, but it also helps me learn and explore. Medicine is such a vast subject, and I see no reason why we can't help each other out?

About the lesson

Prospective medical students: - BMAT practice - Medicine interview prep - Cambridge interviews prep - Trinity College interviews prep - Personal statements and other equivalents Current medical students: - Sharing my medical notes from the last 4 years. This includes notes shared by friends and learning points from loads of professors. - Learning a new paradigm that integrates all modules. This will let you visualise the body better than Dr Shaun Murphy in ‘The Good Doctor’. It took 6 months to make and divides learning into temporal and spatial streams at the cellular and system level.

When did you develop an interest in your chosen field and in private tutoring?
I developed an interest in tutoring when I was helping out some friends in the first year of medicine. They seemed to really like my teaching style and recommended I share it with the masses.
Tell us more about the subject you teach, the topics you like to discuss with students (and possibly those you like a little less).
I teach medicine and all things medical, enjoy anatomy, not the biggest fan of biochemistry but I can still help out.
Did you have any role models; a teacher that inspired you?
A few teachers in school had interesting teaching styles which I have tried to incorporate.
What do you think are the qualities required to be a good tutor?
Competence and patience.
Provide a valuable anecdote related to your subject or your days at school.
I was told in school that getting into medicine required a lot of complicated preparation, after which my school gave me none.
What were the difficulties or challenges you faced or still facing in your subject?
Helping people understand the subject rather than just memorising it.
Do you have a particular passion? Is it teaching in general or an element of the subject or something completely different?
I like sharing my knowledge.
