About Carolina

My name is Carolina De la Rosa, I was born and raised in the US to Mexican parents. I have experience tutoring in Spanish as for a year I did a volunteer project where I taught Central American refugees for McShan Elementary who had limited knowledge of English in subjects like maths and English. Having grown up speaking Spanish at the same time as English I have fluency in Spanish; as I also taught myself the grammar to grasp a more profound understanding of the Spanish language and structure which was the main reason why I was able to get Spanish credit for three years of Spanish through a credit-by-exam through the state of Texas without having ever taken a Spanish class. Moreso too, a 5 in AP Spanish Language and Culture Exam without having ever taken the class either. Due to the learning techniques that I used on myself which enabled me to pass Spanish language credit-exams, these are the same learning techniques that I use on my students to help them reach an understanding of Spanish language and structure, so as to be able to communicate with Spanish speakers within a year's time.

About the lesson

While the basic structure in the US public education system is to teach the conjugations and verb tenses across four years and rather focus more heavily on the vocab; I take the opposite approach of prioritising my students to grasp an understanding of the conjugations and verb tenses with common and irregular verbs rather than focusing too heavily on just knowledge of Spanish nouns. This is because I believe that it is more efficient to have my students be able to communicate with others and have a complete understanding of Spanish grammar and tenses as soon as possible rather than it having to take them four years. And since this will be done alongside the learning of the most common Spanish irregular and regular verbs, this will guarantee them to be able to thoroughly communicate themselves with Spanish speakers within a year's time.
