  • When did you develop an interest in music? Could you tell us about your first experience with playing the piano?

I developed my interest in music when I was 7 years old, when my father gave me the opportunity to start practising the piano. What started as a young child learning an instrument gradually grew into a genuine passion for music. Over the years, I have come to appreciate not only the technical side of playing, but also the emotion and creativity that music allows us to express.
  • What musical development or change has marked you the most, and what do you believe will be a turning point in the world of music?

One of the things that has marked me most is how much music continues to evolve while still being connected to its roots. Jazz, for example, has influenced so many modern styles of music, and musicians continue to take those influences and create something new.

I believe the continued development of technology and AI will have a major impact on music, particularly in how people create, record and learn music. At the same time, I think there will always be something special about a real musician sitting at an instrument and expressing something genuinely personal.
  • Please share more about your speciality, your interest in it and, more broadly, its importance in the world of music.

My speciality is piano, and I particularly enjoy exploring the musicality behind the instrument rather than focusing only on playing the correct notes. I enjoy learning about chords, harmony, rhythm, improvisation and how different musicians approach the instrument.

The piano is such a versatile instrument that it can be used across many different genres and musical settings. I believe learning piano can also help students develop their understanding of music as a whole, giving them a foundation that they can carry into other instruments and styles.
  • Do famous musicians, composers or performers inspire you, or do you have other musical role models?

I am inspired by musicians who have pushed the boundaries of their instruments and developed their own unique musical voices. Some of the musicians who inspire me include Chick Corea, Robert Glasper and John Coltrane.

What I admire about these musicians is not simply their technical ability, but their creativity, individuality and ability to communicate emotion through music. They remind me that being a musician is not only about playing an instrument well, but about developing your own voice.
  • Could you share an anecdote related to your student days or your journey as a musician?

One of the funniest moments I've experienced as a musician happened when I was booked to play at a wedding. The venue hosted multiple weddings at the same time, and somehow I ended up at the wrong wedding!

The funny part was that the band booked for that wedding was running late, and the people there also thought that I was actually supposed to be their musician. So for a moment, everyone was convinced that I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

It was definitely an unusual experience, but it is one of those stories from performing that I will probably never forget.
  • What would you say to someone who is interested in learning piano but feels nervous, unconfident or believes they are not naturally musical?

I would tell them that every great musician started exactly where they are now – as a beginner.

Learning an instrument takes time, and it is completely normal to make mistakes or feel nervous. Even experienced musicians still get nervous sometimes. What matters is being willing to practise, make mistakes, learn from them and keep going.

You don't have to be naturally gifted to enjoy music or become a good musician. With patience, consistency and the right guidance, you can make progress.
  • Do you have any other passions – related or unrelated to music?

Outside of music, one of my other passions is graphic design. I enjoy the creative process of designing and bringing ideas to life visually.

I think there is actually a strong connection between music and design. Both involve creativity, structure, balance and finding ways to communicate an idea or emotion.
  • What makes you a Superprof – one that artificial intelligence could never replace?

For me, one of the most important parts of teaching is the human connection.

When I sit down with a student, I can see where they are struggling, listen to how they are playing and correct them in the moment. I can adapt the lesson to the individual student and understand when they need more encouragement, a different explanation or simply more time to practise.

AI can provide information and help someone learn certain concepts, but I don't believe it can completely replicate the real human emotion involved in playing and teaching an instrument. Music is about expression, feeling and connection. As a teacher, I want my students not only to learn how to play the piano, but to understand how to express themselves through it.
