About Carren
Hello, I'm Carren! I grew between Hong Kong and the UK and have been fluent in Cantonese and English since birth. I speak Cantonese, English and Mandarin fluently. I also understand bits of Korean, Spanish, French and am currently learning Japanese!
I taught English and English Literature for 4 years as a secondary school teacher whilst incorporating lessons on Chinese culture and Cantonese into my lessons. My deep understanding of both languages help me bridge the gap for my students and make lessons interesting. Above teaching languages, I love teaching about cultures.
I think everyone should feel empowered to learn a new language no matter how "difficult" people say it is. I love helping students unlearn language anxiety and help them become independent and confident speakers.

With a PGCE from the University of Bristol and experience teaching students age 2-50, I am skilled in tailoring lessons to the individual student. I also use lots of pictures to help with identification and dual-coding.
I welcome students of all levels. My lessons are dialogic and I will incorporate your feedback to make the lessons more suited to your goals.
