About Tom
- What kind of experience do you have?
Tom studied clarinet at Birmingham Conservatoire with Sally Harrop and Tim Lines before gaining a place on the LPO Foyle Future First scheme. Following private study with Joy Farrall Tom successfully auditioned for Southbank Sinfonia in 2012. Tom continues to pursue a freelance career playing with many orchestras including Orchestra of the Swan, Britten Sinfonia and Bournemouth Symphony. Alongside this Tom has a busy teaching schedule and performs in a duo with the soprano Bridget Kerrison.
- Do you have an up-to-date DBS (Disclosure & Barring Service, formerly CRB) Certificate?
Yes
- Where and with whom did you train?
I trained at Birmingham Conservatoire for four years before winning a place on the Foyle Future First program with the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Since then I have studied privately.

- How much do you charge?
£30 per hour or £15 per half an hour.
- Where do you teach?
I would prefer to travel to the pupil's home but there might be a possibility of teaching in the daytime at my home. I also offer online lessons via Zoom/FaceTime.

Flexible with timings, please get in touch.
- Which ages and levels do you teach?
Any age and any level.
- Which qualifications do you prepare your students for?
I prefer ABRSM but can prepare pupils for other exams if necessary.
