About Linden

Hi, I'm Linden, and I'm excited to meet you! I’ve worked the last two summers at a local day camp, and last school year I was part of TAPIF- a program in France where I worked as a Language Assistant. I have also tutored as a volunteer and done lots of babysitting. My college degree is in Theatre with a Technical/Set Design concentration and a minor in French. In my free time, I like to read, do art, play with my cats, and play ultimate frisbee. I'm looking forward to being part of your educational journey!

About the lesson

My personal teaching philosophy is that in order to create a better, fairer, more just, and happier world, we need education. Teaching, especially at the primary school level, is absolutely critical for this to be true. Education can give you so much - friends, life skills, the ability to step into other people’s shoes, a way to experience the world from different perspectives, leadership, teamwork, flexibility, time management- the list goes on and on. As a student I learned that not everyone has the same learning style- and so I always make sure to check for understanding from my students, and I provide different ways of learning material. Personally, I am a visual/kinesthetic learner, but I know that not everyone learns that way. You have to be ready to teach material in many different ways so that every child is able and willing to understand. I want children to believe that they have the capability to do anything they set their mind to, to believe that they can make their dreams come true. I want them to be engaged in the world around them, to be thoughtful and kind and intelligent. Everyone has different learning styles and different learning speeds, but that does not make any one student lesser than another. We all have different strengths and it is my hope that I am able to bring out the best of each child as they learn and grow. I believe that education is a necessity and a right for everyone and it is our job as teachers to help create a better world.
