I am a 3rd year linguist at the University of Edinburgh studying French and German. I have spent much of my life working with kids, whether that is tutoring, looking after or just spending time with them and therefore would feel very comfortable in this role. I like tutoring as it is an opportunity to share my passion for languages with those who are interested and sometimes there is the challenge of helping students to discover this passion. I have always enjoyed languages, but I noticed during my time studying them that the style of teaching is very prescribed and doesn’t suit everyone’s needs or learning style. This is why my teaching method is much more flexible and my main goal is to ensure my students feel comfortable using the language, whatever level they are studying. The goal of my lessons is to put confidence into the student’s voice so that they are able to enjoy learning the language. This is why I often like to make use of music, art and cinema to engage and encourage students to explore what interests them in a foreign language.
