About Sara

I am a Head of History with over five years’ experience teaching GCSE and A-Level students. I became a teacher because I genuinely enjoy helping students understand the past and gain confidence in their own thinking and writing. As Head of Department, I work closely with students of all abilities and know how to support those who feel overwhelmed as well as those aiming for the very top grades. I believe History should make sense, not feel like endless facts to memorise. My aim is to help students understand events, make clear arguments, and feel confident explaining their ideas in exams. I enjoy working one-to-one because it allows me to tailor lessons to each student’s needs, build strong working relationships, and help students see real progress over time. I am patient, encouraging, and supportive, and I take pride in helping students feel motivated and capable. Whether a student lacks confidence or wants to push themselves further, I am committed to helping them succeed in History.

About the lesson

I am an experienced History teacher with over five years of teaching GCSE and A-Level History. I have a strong track record of helping students improve confidence, exam technique, and grades. At GCSE, I specialise in: Elizabethan England The Cold War America, 1920–1970s Migration and Empire At A-Level, I teach: Nazism I have in-depth knowledge of exam board requirements and mark schemes, and I focus heavily on helping students master exam skills such as essay structure, source analysis, and evaluation. My lessons are clear, well-structured, and tailored to each student’s strengths and areas for improvement, whether they need support with core content or are aiming for the highest grades. I am particularly skilled at breaking down complex topics, developing historical argument, and helping students understand what examiners are really looking for. I create a supportive and encouraging learning environment where students feel confident to ask questions and take intellectual risks. Whether a student needs long-term tutoring or focused revision support before exams, I am committed to helping them achieve their full potential in History.
