About Declan
In 1998 I gained a Teaching English as a Foreign Language qualification from the Foyle Language School, Londonderry, Northern Ireland. I have taught English to non speakers in France, Spain, and the United States.
I have provided tutoring to students arriving from overseas who had knowledge of English but not a large amount of practice, and this has facilitated them in becoming more comfortable with life in this country.

I teach by providing a commentary of who I am and what I am doing. I use repetition techniques for pronunciation and I demonstrate everyday scenarios. Student participation is required from the outset. I seek to build confidence in every day use of the language, and help students identify words and phrases to initiate learning in their own environment.
