About Lynne

*Edited Hi! I'm Kuilin. Here is something about my teaching qualifications and my general style. I am a Mandarin native speaker with Putonghua Shuiping Ceshi (PSC) Level2-A, which means that my Mandarin proficiency makes me qualified to work as a teacher in local schools in China. I spent four years at East China Normal University (ECNU) studying TCSOL and received top professional training in Mandarin teaching. When I was at university, I worked part-time as a personal tutor. I tutored a primary school student in the US remotely with Chinese homework and two Chinese students in person with their Chinese and English. However, there is a pity that I had received an internship to teach Chinese at an English school in Shanghai, but I was unable to do so because of covid. Besides, I've got the Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) of China for teaching English in high school in 2021. And I'm going to obtain the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (CTCSOL) in September this year. Thus, there's no doubt that I am fully eligible to be a teacher in China, whether teaching Mandarin or English. Unfortunately, I take teaching very seriously. I will do my best to help you achieve your goals, but it is obvious that learning something new or reaching a new level is not too easy. Therefore, I hope that you are also serious about your Mandarin learning and take a basic interest. When we are paired as teacher and student, our goals are the same. I hope that you will make progress and gain more interest in Mandarin with my help. However, this does not mean that the class is boring, rigorous or dull. I do not like that and I do not have to be :)

About the lesson

*Edited There are several kinds of classes you can choose. I mainly teach Mandarin the language, as well as the related culture and customs. Also, I'm experienced in providing customised traditional cultural activities for team or family activities, please message me for more information. As for Mandarin language teaching, I can apply the classical teaching style, e.g., Mandarin speaking, listening, writing and reading, or focus on a specific aspect, e.g., pronunciation, grammar, how to write characters, or help you with your HSK exams. I'll give you some tips on each topic of learning, e.g., how to tell the difference between similar words or grammar or pronunciations. Besides, we can try a trendy way I was thinking about, which is learning in a specific scene, that is, we choose a place or situation and we indeed go there, where we learn the words or sentences that we need to use. The culture classes I mentioned above cover Chinese customs and festivals as well as classical and contemporary Chinese literature. I was the president of the folk society at the university, so I am very good at this. All of the above are negotiable, I've just given some options but would be happy to work out a plan for you. Please let me know where you would like to start and where you want to go. Before we start, I will give you an outline of the course and talk to you until we all agree. Normally 50 mins per class but we can talk.
