About Deron

I’ve played chess since grade school, competing in local, state, and national tournaments. On Chess.com, I’m ranked in the Top 1% in Puzzles, Top 0.3% in Daily Games, and Top 5% overall (≈1800 strength). I currently tutor 15 students (ages 5–12) in an after-school program in Northern NJ and also teach in classroom settings. I love helping young learners build confidence, discipline, and real chess skills through clear, engaging instruction.

About the lesson

I offer personalized chess lessons for students of all levels, from complete beginners to advanced competitors. Each session is designed to build tactical awareness, strategic thinking, pattern recognition, and confident gameplay.

Rates:
• Beginners: $30/hr
• Intermediate–Advanced: $40/hr
• Classroom/Group Sessions: $50/hr

During lessons, we focus on practical improvement—game analysis, targeted drills, opening fundamentals, and decision-making under pressure. For students who want quicker progress, I can provide optional homework and study routines.

Bonus Challenge: If you beat me in a lesson game, you’ll earn $5 back for that session (one rebate per hour). It’s a fun way to stay motivated and competitive.
