About Jeru
As a fundraiser in the UK and a fluent English speaker (having not grown up in an English-speaking country), I’ve developed a key pathway to help you master a different language, just as I have – and it doesn’t have to be as difficult as it may seem! I tailor all my lessons to be targeted, engaging, and personally suited to you, so you can deepen your understanding of Mandarin, whatever your level or goal! I have taught Mandarin and English to students ranging from 9 to 55 years old.
★You will learn:
-You'll progress from simple conversations, like greetings and ordering at a restaurant, to more detailed exchanges—such as catching up with your Mandarin-speaking friend about your day, interests, and much more.
-The logic behind Mandarin phonetic systems and how to apply this to reading and pronunciation.
-One Character a Week – learning to write in Chinese characters will strengthen your memory, aid in reading, help you pick up new words faster, and, most importantly, it's FUN!
★How you will learn:
-Speaking and listening activities, videos, reading short articles, writing and grammar practice, fun games, and assignment reviews.
-Assignments are optional, but I always encourage students to practise Mandarin in their own time, whether by engaging with songs, cartoons, or series in the language, or simply using simple phrases like ‘xièxie’ (thank you) in everyday life.
-All the encouragement and inspiration you need to thrive – I understand the challenges of learning a new language, a second language, or simply the need for reassurance and confidence, which is completely valid!
