About Magali
My name is Magali. I'm from Burgundy, a region in France well-known for its amazing wines and gastronomy. I've been passionate about other cultures and languages from a young age. After studying cinema and literature, I specialised in linguistics and have a Master’s degree in Teaching French as a Foreign Language. Following my studies, I taught French for three years in a few European countries to learners from different age groups and across all levels. Back in France, my focus was on intensive and immerse courses for international students from all over the world. I also trained EU parliament’s interpreters and other French as a foreign language teachers. I have been in Stellenbosch, South Africa, since 2016, another region well-known for its great wines. When I’m not teaching, I can be found in the garden, doing something creative or tasting the wines of my adopted country. I genuinely love interacting with people from diverse cultures and sharing views on various topics.

I have a good understanding of my mother tongue through the eyes of a learner for whom French is not a first language (like you). I can guide you through the entire system of French language - communication skills, cultural aspects, grammar, vocabulary, phonetics, intonation and the context of communication.
A typical class starts with a warm-up time, then we'll dive into the task of the day: brainstorming on the topic, short text or video file, general understanding, detailed understanding, or preparing a conversation with all the skills required to accomplish the task. It's fun, dynamic, your speaking time and engagement are keys to a good time spent in French. I speak fluently English, can help a bit in Spanish and German, in case you need to refer to another language. Voilà
