About Yisa

I grew up in China, spent 6 years living in Japan, and also studied in Australia for half a year. Thanks to this journey, I’ve developed a deep understanding of different cultures—and how to help learners overcome the real challenges of speaking a new language. I love talking with people and have friends from many countries, so in my class, you’ll never have to feel shy or afraid to speak. I’m here to make sure you feel safe, seen, and supported. I really love foreign cultures and traveling around the world, so I really want to help more people to enjoy learning languages! Outside of teaching, I enjoy photography and dancing—and I believe language learning is just like both: it’s about rhythm, feeling, and self-expression. Whether you're learning for travel, exams, or self-growth, I’ll help you build confidence and enjoy the process.

Hi there! I'm a native Chinese speaker with 5 years of experience teaching Mandarin and 4 years teaching Japanese to students from a variety of backgrounds. I specialize in fun, personalized 1-on-1 lessons that focus on real communication, not just textbooks. Whether you're learning for travel, exams, or just because you're curious about the culture—I’ve got you covered. In my classes, I love to bring in interesting cultural facts, idioms, jokes, and real-life expressions to make the learning experience engaging and authentic. We'll laugh, learn, and build your confidence together. My lessons are usually 60 minutes, and always tailored to your goals and pace. I’ve taught students of all levels—from absolute beginners to advanced speakers—and all ages, from teens to professionals. Whether you want to master tones, improve pronunciation, or just get better at everyday conversation, I’ll help you get there with patience and encouragement.
