About Maria

I am a fully qualified Spanish teacher with over two decades of high-level international experience. This includes 10 years of classroom teaching experience at a prestigious secondary private school in Southwest London, consistently driving students to achieve top-tier grades. I also have extensive experience teaching at primary and secondary school levels in both Spain and California, giving me a broad understanding of diverse educational frameworks. Additionally, I have worked as a lecturer at Morley College in London, specialising in adult language acquisition. I am fully DBS checked (Enhanced Certificate).
My lessons are all 1 hour long and are catered to:
• Key Stage 3 (KS3): Younger secondary school students building foundational vocabulary and grammar.
• GCSE & IGCSE: Exam preparation (4 skills) mapped to the AQA and Pearson Edexcel exam boards.
• A-Level: Exam preparation for AQA and Pearson Edexcel, focusing on advanced translation, exam technique, oral fluency, essay writing, and analytical commentary.
• DELE Exams: Structured exam preparation across all proficiency tiers.
• Primary Learners & Adult Learners: Tailored, low-stress conversational tracks or foundational knowledge.
I offer a free 30-minute online diagnostic consultation and sample exercise to all new students. During this session, we will discuss your current level and target goals (such as your school exam board or desired target grade), identify your specific language roadblocks or exam weaknesses, and map out a learning plan built around your schedule. We will then complete a short sample exercise so you can decide if my teaching style suits you.

About the lesson

I believe that successful learning happens when a student feels confident and supported. I adopt a comprehensive approach to teaching, focusing on building long-term communication skills, cultural appreciation, and confidence alongside academic growth. I design fully bespoke, interactive lessons tailored to each individual's unique learning style, strengths, and goals, creating an engaging, encouraging space where making mistakes is welcomed as a natural step towards improvement. While maintaining this supportive environment, I remain strictly targeted on your grade goals, integrating mark scheme and exam technique guidance, alongside syllabus vocabulary and grammar into our sessions. This ensures students understand exactly how to secure the grade they want and manage their time effectively.
