About Julia

Every single time I approached the end of the year throughout high school and early college, a stream of friends would ask me for help with their essays. Working on 11:59 deadlines, we'd curate theses and outlines together against the clock - and a week or two later, when they got an A, I'd get treated to some tasty lunch. A nursing major then with little direction, I eventually found myself in a field my friends unknowingly saw in me. Now, as a working writer and photographer with an educational background in journalism and behavioral science, I strive to share the full depth of human stories accurately - whether it's through the lens of a camera or the words I'm trusted with. From the 2024 presidential election, to Esports reporting and in-depth profiles of multicultural artists in LA, I've written and edited stories across several publications in Northern and Southern California. Across these backgrounds and entities, I've worked with over 160 writers to see their works published - many coming from backgrounds in STEM, or studying internationally with English as their second language.

About the lesson

I strive to inspire and impart knowledge with professionalism, self-awareness, and honesty, while also always seeking feedback to grow and learn - just as students do. This can take shape in K-12 to college-level writing, with a large focus on essay, test prep, and expository writing. I never believed my degree or professional work was about a dry prompt, 300 words and a handful of required responses to two other classmates - and I won't fault you if you think the same. Instead, let's work together to curate these skills into something meaningful to you and your own ambitions - and find fulfillment in your earned, definitive progress.
